Happy to report concrete steps toward expanding MMWD’s water supply.
On February 28th, all Board members voted to approve a roadmap toward a drought-resilient water supply. By 2025, we will achieve about 3,500-acre feet of new water supply by improving our reservoir operations, by better managing our imports of water from the Russian River, and by increasing our water savings.
Our goal is to increase MMWD’s available water supply by about 12,000 to 20,000-acre feet by 2035. These long-term gains will require new infrastructure for importing and storing winter water from the Russian River and increased wastewater recycling. We will also investigate collaboration with other water agencies on regional desalination initiatives.
